Shawn Young Elwood Indiana Obituary : Shawn Young Death : Man, 21, killed in trench collapse at Noblesville construction site

According to the authorities, a 21-year-old man was declared dead after being discovered trapped in a collapsed trench at a Noblesville construction site on Monday morning.

When the event happened at around 9:45 in the morning, emergency workers from the Noblesville Fire Department were dispatched to the site in the 14600 block of Umber Avenue.

The man was found unconscious and buried up to his shoulders, according to division chief Trevor Hash. Hash claims that the man was working in the trench, which was around eight feet deep and four feet broad, when it collapsed as he was running a water line.

After what seemed like an eternity, the rescuers finally managed to free the man from the ditch. It was reported that he had died at the site. Shawn Young, a resident of Elwood, was named by the Hamilton County Coroner's Office as the individual who died.

To determine how Young died and what caused his demise, the coroner's office will conduct an autopsy. Hash claims that an investigation will be launched by the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration to ascertain the cause of the trench collapse.

A fire department officer stated that working in trenches, whether for construction or rescue operations, can be dangerous. Since reinforcing the walls takes time during a rescue effort, the main worry is that the rescue workers would get stuck in a subsequent collapse.

"Trenches are very, very dangerous." Falling into a trench and becoming trapped below was the cause of death for a construction worker in Shelby County, Tennessee in 2022. On the site of the building, there was the trench.

The year 2022 also saw the survival of a construction worker who became stuck in a ditch on Indianapolis's east side.
