Betty Clapper, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the age of 78.
Born on April 26, 1946, in Canton, Ohio, Betty was the cherished daughter of the late John and Barbara (Squiric) Woodlock.
She spent most of her life in the Norton area, cultivating deep roots and strong community ties.
Betty had a zest for life that was evident in her love for travel. She cherished her visits to Michigan to spend time with her siblings, as well as trips to Hilton Head Island, Florida, Hawaii, and memorable ocean cruises.
Her adventurous spirit was balanced by her love for home, where she found joy in gardening and planting flowers, cooking and baking, and decorating homes and condos. Betty enjoyed relaxing by the pool, listening to the soothing sounds of her wind chimes on the patio, and shopping for unique items that held special memories.
Family was at the heart of Betty's life. Her grandchildren were a constant source of joy, and she treasured the moments spent with her family and friends. Her legacy of love and devotion lives on through the many lives she touched.
Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, John, Barbara, Violet, Robert, and Mary. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, John; her daughters, Lisa Mull, Jeannette (Tim) Becker, Susan, and Laura Clapper; her sons, Steven Boyd and David Clapper; her grandchildren, Victoria Mull, Bill (Samantha)
Mull, Caroline and Marissa Boyd, and Nicholas, Katelyn, and Alyssa Becker; her great-grandchildren, Tatum and Bo Allen; and many other loving family members and friends.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to her nurse, Taunia, and the Cleveland Clinic Hospice of Ridgewood for their exceptional care and support in ensuring Betty's peaceful passing at home.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024, from 6 PM to 8 PM at Crossroads Community Church, located at 700 Gates Street, Doylestown, OH 44230.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Norton Fire Department or The Sanctuary of Wadsworth. These contributions will honor Betty’s memory and support causes that were close to her heart.
Betty Clapper’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
