Jesse James researcher passed away

Some readers here will recognize the name Ellis Eugene Hardcastle, affectionately known as Bud Hardcastle of Purcell, Oklahoma. 

It is with great sadness that we announce Bud passed away about a week ago, and his funeral was held on June 12th. Bud's passing marks the end of a remarkable journey dedicated to unraveling one of history's intriguing mysteries.

Bud spent a lifetime pursuing the truth about the death of the notorious outlaw Jesse James. His relentless quest centered on the identity of J. Frank Dalton and whether Dalton was, in fact, the real Jesse Woodson James. 

This mystery captivated Bud, driving him to devote countless hours to research and investigation. Despite his tireless efforts and compelling findings, Bud often found it challenging to garner the attention and belief of the broader public.

As a close friend and collaborator of over 30 years, I witnessed firsthand Bud's unwavering determination and passion. 

He was not merely a hobbyist but a dedicated historian with a genuine belief that he had uncovered positive proof of J. Frank Dalton's true identity. 

Bud's commitment to this cause was unparalleled, and his findings brought a new perspective to the story of Jesse James, a figure who has fascinated Americans for generations.

While tonight might be too late to delve deeply into the specifics of Bud's research and discoveries, it is important to acknowledge his dedication and the significance of his work.
