Jim Scott, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on June 24, surrounded by his family. 


His death marks the end of a life filled with love, dedication, and service to others. Jim's legacy will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Born on May 15, 1950, in Springfield, Illinois, Jim was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to his family and friends. 

He graduated from Springfield High School and went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois. 

Jim married his high school sweetheart, Linda, in 1972, and together they built a life filled with love and joy.

Jim's professional career was marked by his dedication and hard work. He spent over 30 years at the helm of Scott Enterprises, a family-owned business, where he earned a reputation for his integrity and leadership.

Jim was not just a businessman but a mentor to many, always willing to offer advice and support to those around him.

Outside of his professional life, Jim was deeply involved in his community. He was a long-time member of the Rotary Club and dedicated countless hours to various charitable organizations.  

His passion for helping others was evident in everything he did, from organizing food drives to mentoring young entrepreneurs. Jim's contributions to the community will be remembered for years to come.

Jim's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife, Linda, their three children, Michael, Susan, and David, and five grandchildren. 

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always putting his family first. His love and support were the foundation of his family's strength, and his memory will continue to inspire them.

Visitation for Jim Scott will be held on Friday, June 30, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Springfield Community Center. 

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and share their memories of Jim. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 1, at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim's memory to the Springfield Food Bank, an organization that was close to his heart. 

Jim's life was a testament to the power of kindness and generosity, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.

Jim Scott will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. 

His legacy of love, dedication, and service to others will be remembered and cherished forever.
