A tragic accident in Loudoun County claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl from Lovettsville on Saturday afternoon.
According to state police, the accident occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. when a 2020 Volvo XC60, traveling westbound on Loudoun Street, collided with a 1997 Honda Civic.
The Civic, driven by the teen, Leiliana N. Schwartz, pulled into the path of the Volvo from Leesburg Pike while attempting to make a left turn onto East Loudoun Street eastbound.
Leiliana N. Schwartz sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Volvo, who remained uninjured, was also wearing a seatbelt, as was Schwartz. The collision remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
