Round Rock Police Arrest 17-Year-Old Ricky Thompson III in Connection with Juneteenth Festival Shooting at Old Settlers Park.

Round Rock, Texas – In a significant breakthrough, the Round Rock Police Department has arrested 17-year-old Ricky Thompson III from Manor in connection with the deadly Juneteenth celebration shooting at Old Settlers Park. 


The tragic incident occurred during a festival intended to honor freedom and unity, resulting in the deaths of two women and leaving 14 others injured. 

Ricky Thompson III was apprehended by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force early Thursday morning. 

The arrest was made at approximately 7:30 a.m., as announced by Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks during a press conference.
 
The apprehension of Thompson marks a critical step in the investigation, bringing a sense of relief to a community still reeling from the shocking violence that marred the Juneteenth festivities.

The Juneteenth celebration at Old Settlers Park was intended to be a joyous occasion commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. 

However, the event turned tragic when gunfire erupted, causing chaos and heartbreak. The swift and coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies, including the Round Rock Police Department and the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, were pivotal in identifying and capturing the suspect.

Chief Allen Banks expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated the department's commitment to seeking justice. 

He praised the dedication and collaboration of the various law enforcement teams involved in the investigation and the arrest. “Our hearts go out to the families affected by this senseless act of violence,” Banks said. “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that justice is served.”
