Sean Francis Guiheen Obituary, Death – Visitation & Funeral Service

Sean Francis Guiheen, beloved husband, father, and community leader, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 68. 


Sean was born on September 12, 1955, in Springfield, Illinois, to Patrick and Margaret Guiheen. 

He grew up in a close-knit family, instilled with values of hard work, compassion, and service to others.

Sean's dedication to his community was evident throughout his life. After graduating from Springfield High School, he pursued a career in education, earning a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Illinois. 

He later obtained a Master's degree in Education Administration, which paved the way for his impactful career as a high school principal in Springfield. 

Sean's commitment to his students and staff earned him respect and admiration, known for his unwavering support and dedication to improving educational opportunities for all.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sean was a devoted family man. He met the love of his life, Elizabeth, during college, and they were married for 45 years. 

Together, they raised three children: Michael, Jennifer, and Thomas, instilling in them the same values of kindness and integrity that defined Sean's own life.

Sean's passions extended beyond his career and family. An avid golfer and nature enthusiast, he found solace on the golf course and enjoyed camping trips with his family, creating lasting memories under the stars. 

He was also actively involved in local charities, volunteering his time to support youth programs and initiatives for underprivileged families.

Sean Francis Guiheen leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love. His memory will be cherished by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and the countless lives he touched throughout his community. 

His impact will be felt for generations to come, a testament to a life well-lived in service to others.

Visitation will be held on June 28, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service on June 29, 2024, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Springfield Youth Education Fund in Sean's honor.
