Elaine Marie Fair Obituary, Death – Visitation & Funeral Service

Elaine Marie Fair, aged 72, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Springfield.


Born on August 15, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, Elaine was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. 

Her kind heart, unwavering faith, and dedication to her loved ones will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Elaine grew up in a close-knit family and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969. She pursued her passion for nursing, earning her degree from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1973. 

Her career spanned over four decades, during which she provided compassionate care to countless patients. 

Elaine’s colleagues admired her dedication and the gentle, empathetic approach she brought to her work.

In 1975, Elaine married the love of her life, Robert Fair. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising three children—Michael, Jennifer, and Thomas. 

Elaine was a devoted mother who always put her family first, creating a home filled with love, warmth, and laughter. 

She was also a doting grandmother to her five grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Elaine was an active member of her church community, participating in numerous volunteer activities and outreach programs.

Her faith was a guiding force in her life, providing her with strength and comfort during challenging times. 

Elaine enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her family, and she had a special talent for baking, known for her delicious pies and cookies.

Visitation for Elaine Marie Fair will be held on July 5, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Springfield Funeral Home, located at 123 Main Street, Springfield. 

A funeral service to celebrate Elaine’s life will take place on July 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 456 Elm Street, Springfield, with Father John Matthews officiating. Following the service, Elaine will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Elaine’s memory to the Springfield Hospice Foundation, an organization close to her heart. 

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice team for their exceptional care and support during Elaine’s final days. 

Elaine Marie Fair’s legacy of love, kindness, and service will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
