Lener Carrasco Salgado and Nayeli Hernandez Obituary and Death: Tragic Highway 71 Accident Claims Lives of Two Young Individuals - Lener Carrasco Salgado, Age 30 and Nayeli Hernandez Age 20, Both Died Instantly in the Fatal Crash on Highway 71, While 23-year-old Driver Elver Haniel Hernandez Carcamo and 54-year-old Truck Driver Sustained Critical and Non-Life Threatening Injuries, Respectively.

The community of Sauk Centre and Melrose is reeling in shock and grief as news of a tragic car accident on Highway 71 spread like wildfire, claiming the lives of two young individuals, Lener Carrasco Salgado, 30, from Melrose, and Nayeli Hernandez, 20, from Sauk Centre. 


The devastating incident occurred near the junction of Highway 71 and County Road 28, where their lives were tragically cut short.

Lener Carrasco Salgado, born on July 18, 1993, was a beloved member of the Melrose community. 

Known for his infectious smile and kind-hearted nature, Lener touched the lives of many through his work as a mechanic and his involvement in local charitable activities. 

He was passionate about cars from a young age and turned his hobby into a successful career, earning a reputation for his skill and reliability. 

Lener's commitment to his family was unwavering, and he cherished spending time with his parents, Miguel and Maria, and his siblings, Carlos and Mariana.

Nayeli Hernandez, born on September 7, 2002, in Sauk Centre, was a bright and ambitious young woman with a promising future ahead of her. 

She was a recent graduate of Sauk Centre High School, where she excelled academically and was actively involved in student organizations. 

Nayeli had a passion for art and dreamed of becoming a professional graphic designer. Her creativity and talent were evident in her artwork, which inspired those around her.

The sudden loss of Lener and Nayeli has left their families, friends, and the entire community devastated. 

They were both known for their compassion, generosity, and dedication to helping others. Lener's friends remember him as a loyal and supportive friend who was always there in times of need. 

Nayeli's teachers and classmates recall her as a vibrant and caring individual who brightened every room with her presence.

A joint memorial service to celebrate the lives of Lener Carrasco Salgado and Nayeli Hernandez will be held on July 15th at the Sauk Centre High School auditorium, where friends, family, and community members will gather to honor their memories and support each other during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the families request donations be made to a scholarship fund established in Lener and Nayeli's names, aimed at supporting students pursuing careers in mechanics and graphic design, respectively.

Lener Carrasco Salgado and Nayeli Hernandez's legacies will live on through the lives they touched and the memories they created. 

Though their time with us was tragically cut short, their impact on their community and the love they shared with their families and friends will forever be cherished and remembered.
