Madison Outhier, a celebrated two-time Women’s Rodeo World Champion Breakaway Roper, tragically passed away on July 16, 2024, after sustaining severe injuries in a tragic accident at the Days of ’47 Rodeo in Salt Lake City. 


Her untimely death has sent shockwaves through the rodeo community, leaving fans, fellow competitors, and friends mourning the loss of a beloved and accomplished athlete.

Born on February 12, 1990, in Weatherford, Texas, Madison Outhier grew up with a deep-rooted passion for rodeo. 

From a young age, she demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, quickly rising through the ranks to become one of the most respected breakaway ropers in the sport. 

Her remarkable achievements included winning two Women’s Rodeo World Championships, a testament to her talent, hard work, and dedication to the sport she loved.

Madison's success on the rodeo circuit was accompanied by her warm personality and unwavering sportsmanship. 

She was admired not only for her exceptional roping abilities but also for her generosity and support for fellow competitors. 

Her positive influence extended beyond the arena, as she actively participated in community outreach programs, inspiring young riders and promoting the values of rodeo.

On July 16, during a high-stakes run at the Days of ’47 Rodeo, Madison suffered a severe accident that resulted in fatal injuries. 

Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, she succumbed to her injuries, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Madison is survived by her husband, Cole Outhier, her parents, Lisa and Tom Outhier, and her siblings, Jessica and Ryan Outhier. 

Her family, friends, and the rodeo community are deeply grieving her loss and are rallying around her memory, honoring her legacy through various tributes and memorials.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Madison’s life and achievements, where the rodeo community and her loved ones will come together to pay their respects. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to a foundation established in Madison’s name, supporting young athletes pursuing their dreams in rodeo and promoting safety in the sport.
