Police are requesting assistance from the public to locate a hit-and-run driver responsible for injuring a man in South Salt Lake.

South Salt Lake police are seeking the public's help in locating a hit-and-run driver who seriously injured a man on July 15, 2024. 


The incident occurred at the intersection of 300 East and 3300 South, where the victim, identified as 45-year-old Michael Jennings, was struck while crossing the street.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect's vehicle, described as a dark-colored sedan with noticeable front-end damage, was seen fleeing the scene immediately after the collision. 

Michael Jennings was taken to a local hospital with multiple injuries, including fractures and internal trauma. 

His condition remains critical, and he is expected to undergo several surgeries.

Authorities have released surveillance footage from nearby cameras showing the suspect's vehicle and are urging anyone who may have seen the incident or has information about the vehicle’s whereabouts to come forward. 

The police are also asking for tips from residents who might have noticed any vehicles matching the description in the area around the time of the accident.

The hit-and-run driver faces charges of felony hit-and-run and could face additional penalties depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation. 

The South Salt Lake Police Department is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible.
