Ruth "Ruthie" J. Buckendorf, 77, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs.

Ruth "Ruthie" J. Buckendorf, a cherished resident of Green River, Wyoming, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs. She was 77 years old. Ruthie’s passing marks the end of a life well-lived, filled with warmth, kindness, and a deep connection to her community.


Born on March 13, 1947, in Greeley, Colorado, Ruthie was the daughter of Erven "Jiggs" E. Buckendorf and Goldie M. Wohlford. 

She spent her formative years in Greeley before moving to Green River, where she would make her home for many years. 

Ruthie was known for her vibrant spirit and her strong commitment to her family and friends. Her presence was a source of joy and comfort to those around her.

Ruthie’s life was marked by her dedication to community and her love for those she held dear. 

She was an active member of the Green River Assembly of God, where she contributed her time and energy to various church activities and outreach programs. 

Her faith and involvement in the church were central to her life, reflecting her deep sense of purpose and devotion.

In accordance with her wishes, Ruthie’s body will be cremated. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Green River Assembly of God, located at 1380 Hitching Post Drive, Green River. 

This gathering will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and community members to come together in remembrance and to honor the impact Ruthie had on their lives.

Ruthie Buckendorf’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of being a part of her life.
