Brian Kurz, the esteemed Director of Operations for El Paso-Gridley Schools, passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 2024, at the age of 52. Brian’s sudden departure has left a deep void in both the educational community and the many lives he touched throughout his career.

A lifelong resident of Gridley, Illinois, Brian dedicated over two decades to the El Paso-Gridley School District. 

His role as Director of Operations involved overseeing the maintenance and management of school facilities, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment for students and staff. 

His commitment to excellence and his proactive approach to problem-solving were hallmarks of his tenure. 

Colleagues and friends recall Brian's unwavering dedication to his work, often going above and beyond to support his team and enhance the educational experience.

Brian was not only known for his professional achievements but also for his warm and approachable nature. 

He was a pillar in the Gridley community, participating actively in local events and volunteering for various causes. 

His genuine concern for others and his willingness to lend a helping hand made him a respected and cherished figure in the community.

Outside of work, Brian was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife, Karen Kurz, and their two children, Jessica and Ryan. 

His family remembers him as a loving and supportive husband and father, always present for family gatherings and dedicated to creating a nurturing home environment.

The community has expressed deep sorrow over his passing, and a memorial service is planned for August 5, 2024, at the Gridley High School gymnasium.
