Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, was placed on temporary lockdown on August 8, 2024, following a false report of an active shooter on the premises. The swift and coordinated response by local authorities ensured the safety of both staff and patients, and the situation was resolved without incident.

The alarm was raised when a call was made to the 911 emergency dispatch center, reporting an active shooter at the medical center.

Patients in various departments were moved to secure areas, and all entry and exit points were tightly controlled.

The lockdown also involved a comprehensive search of the facility to confirm that there were no threats present.

Authorities conducted a thorough investigation and quickly determined that the report was false. Initial findings suggest that the call was made as a result of a misunderstanding or a prank.

However, the seriousness of the report necessitated a full-scale response to ensure the safety of all individuals at the medical center.
