Lester Hicks, age 70, of Emmalena, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Greg and Norene Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky. His death has cast a shadow of sorrow over the community, where he was a cherished and respected figure.


Lester was born on March 14, 1954, in Tina, Kentucky, to Carter Hicks and Polly Ann Ritchie Hicks. 

From a young age, Lester developed a deep connection to his roots, nurturing a love for the land and the simple joys of rural life. 

His upbringing on the family farm instilled in him a strong work ethic and a profound respect for nature and its cycles.

Lester’s life revolved around his family, his farm, and his animals. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who found great satisfaction in tending to his land and caring for his livestock.
