Allison Chapman, a beloved resident of Kingsport, TN, and a talented softball player, passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2024, at the age of 24. 


Her sudden death has left her family, friends, teammates, and the entire Kingsport community in deep mourning, as they remember the vibrant young woman who brought joy and inspiration to so many.

Born on February 15, 2000, in Kingsport, Allison was a natural athlete from a young age. She attended Dobyns-Bennett High School, where she quickly made a name for herself on the softball field. 

Her exceptional skills, combined with her fierce determination and competitive spirit, earned her numerous accolades and the admiration of her coaches and teammates. 

Allison's love for the game was evident in every play, and she became a role model for younger players aspiring to follow in her footsteps.

After high school, Allison continued her softball career at the collegiate level, playing for the East Tennessee State University Buccaneers. 

She majored in Sports Science, with a minor in Coaching, reflecting her passion for athletics and her desire to give back to the sport that had given her so much. 

Allison's dedication to her studies and her sport was unwavering, and she excelled both on and off the field.

Allison's impact extended beyond her athletic achievements. She was known for her kind heart, infectious smile, and unwavering support for her friends and family. 

She had a unique ability to lift the spirits of those around her, always offering a kind word or a helping hand. Her positivity and genuine care for others made her a cherished friend and confidante.

Allison is survived by her loving parents, Mark and Laura Chapman, and her younger brother, Ryan. 

Her family remembers her as a loving and devoted daughter and sister who always put family first. 

Her close-knit bond with her family was a source of strength and joy for her, and she cherished the time they spent together.

In addition to her family, Allison leaves behind a large circle of friends, teammates, and coaches who were profoundly impacted by her presence.

A memorial service to celebrate Allison's life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Kingsport.

The service will be followed by a candlelight vigil at the Dobyns-Bennett High School softball field, a place where Allison's talent and spirit shone brightly.
