Obituary, Death Sarah Joyce Johnson: Beloved Bon Aqua Resident and Devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Community Pillar Passes Away at 84

Sarah Joyce Johnson, a beloved resident of Bon Aqua, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024, at the age of 84. 


Known for her unwavering dedication to her family and her community, Sarah leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born on March 18, 1940, in Bon Aqua, Sarah was a lifelong resident of the town she loved so dearly. 

She was the daughter of Harold and Evelyn Johnson, who instilled in her the values of hard work, compassion, and community spirit. 

Sarah graduated from Bon Aqua High School in 1958 and went on to attend Middle Tennessee State University, where she earned a degree in education.

Sarah dedicated her life to teaching and spent over three decades as a beloved elementary school teacher in the Bon Aqua school district. 

She was known for her patient and nurturing approach, inspiring countless students to reach their full potential. 

Even after retiring, Sarah continued to volunteer at local schools, sharing her wisdom and love of learning with the next generation.

Sarah was a devoted mother to her three children, Michael, Jennifer, and David, and a loving grandmother to her six grandchildren. 

Family was the cornerstone of her life, and she took immense pride in supporting and caring for her loved ones. 

Her home was always a place of warmth and welcome, where family gatherings were filled with laughter, delicious meals, and cherished memories.

In addition to her commitment to her family and career, Sarah was an active member of the Bon Aqua community. 

She was involved in numerous local organizations, including the Bon Aqua Historical Society, the Community Garden Club, and the local church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member for many years. 

Her dedication to community service earned her numerous accolades and the deep respect of her neighbors.

Sarah's legacy of love, generosity, and community spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. 

She is survived by her children, Michael (Linda) Johnson, Jennifer (Mark) Harris, and David (Susan) Johnson, her grandchildren, Emily, Joshua, Anna, Matthew, Grace, and Olivia, and a host of extended family and friends.

A celebration of Sarah's life will be held at Bon Aqua First Church on July 12, 2024, at 2:00 PM. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bon Aqua Historical Society or the local school district in her memory.
