A baby who once survived a fractured skull and broken bones now lies presumed dead, and the man accused—Jake Haro—was previously spared prison for similar abuse.

A heartbreaking tragedy has unfolded as a once-vibrant baby, who had survived a severe injury involving a fractured skull and broken bones, now lies presumed dead. 

The child, identified as Emmanuel Haro, was only seven months old when authorities believe his life was violently taken by those entrusted to care for him. 

The man accused of causing Emmanuel’s death, Jake Haro, has a troubling history of child abuse. In 2018, Haro’s then-10-week-old daughter was left with permanent disabilities after suffering injuries that suggested severe maltreatment. 

Despite the gravity of that case, Haro was spared prison in 2023 when Judge Dwight W. Moore suspended his six-year sentence, opting instead for probation. Prosecutors had strongly objected to this leniency, emphasizing the severity of the abuse and the ongoing risk posed by Haro’s actions.

Now, the community grapples with the devastating news that Emmanuel’s life was cut short amid allegations of prolonged abuse. Authorities assert that Emmanuel was never kidnapped, as Rebecca Haro initially claimed. 

Instead, forensic evidence and surveillance footage tell a different story, revealing inconsistencies with Rebecca’s account of a parking lot abduction. 

The video footage captured no signs of any kidnapping, and forensic analysis of the scene suggests a tragic conclusion: Emmanuel’s death resulted from sustained and severe abuse over time.
