Larry Meyer, beloved husband, father, and community leader, passed away peacefully at his home in Springfield on June 28, 2024. Born on September 12, 1960, in Springfield, Larry was the son of Richard and Margaret Meyer. 


He grew up in the heart of the community he would come to cherish and serve throughout his life.

Larry attended Springfield High School, where his passion for community service and leadership began to bloom. 

He was an active member of the student council and excelled both academically and athletically. 

After graduation, Larry pursued his passion for helping others by attending Springfield State University, where he earned a degree in social work. 

His dedication to improving the lives of those around him defined his career.

Larry's professional journey took him to various social service agencies in Springfield, where he touched countless lives with his compassion and commitment. 

He was known for his ability to connect with people from all walks of life, offering support and guidance with unwavering kindness.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Larry was a devoted family man. He married his high school sweetheart, Sarah, and together they raised three children: Emily, Michael, and Jessica. 

Larry's love for his family was evident in everything he did; he cherished spending time with them, whether coaching Michael's little league team or attending Emily's piano recitals.

Larry was also deeply involved in his community. He served on the board of several local charities and volunteered his time regularly at the Springfield Food Bank, where his organizational skills and empathy made a significant impact. 

His dedication to improving the welfare of his neighbors earned him respect and admiration throughout Springfield.

In his spare time, Larry enjoyed fishing at Lake Springfield and cheering on the Springfield Tigers football team. 

He had a passion for gardening and took great pride in his vibrant backyard garden, which he often shared with friends and neighbors.

Larry Meyer will be remembered for his warm smile, generous heart, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. 

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

#### Cause of Death

Larry Meyer passed away peacefully at his home in Springfield after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. 

Despite his illness, Larry remained positive and continued to find joy in the simple pleasures of life surrounded by his loved ones.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sarah; his children, Emily, Michael, and Jessica; his parents, Richard and Margaret Meyer; and his siblings, Robert and Susan. 

He will be dearly missed by his extended family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his lifetime.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Springfield Cancer Research Institute in Larry's memory.

Larry Meyer's funeral service will be held at Springfield Community Church on July 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Springfield Memorial Gardens following the service.

Larry's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Springfield community for their outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. May Larry's memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
